Summary

MY PROJECTION:  Higdon could be a surprise at the college level due to his toughness, instincts and vision.  Despite his lack of ideal size he is strong between the tackles and adept at making defenders miss.  He runs bigger than his size, is physical, breaks arm tackles and has a strong lower body.  The knock on Higdon is he lacks game-breaking speed and has a smaller frame.  He may never be a work horse type of back and may eventually find a role as a complimentary type of player.

Higdon is a guy that could see the field this season despite the apparent depth at the position.  Michigan returns Derrick Green, De’Veon Smith and Drake Johnson and also add former USC Trojan Ty Isaac to the backfield.  At first glance it would appear that there is little room for Higdon to garner playing time, however, he possesses a skill set not currently on the roster and that is elusiveness and quickness.  Higdon is effective between the tackles but also has make you miss ability in the open field.  It won’t be easy to break into the lineup with this group of backs but I am not ready to immediately state he is headed for a redshirt season either.
