With the “dead” period coming to an end expect a tremendous amount of talk and rumors to be hitting the airwaves in the coming days and weeks as we near the finish line for the 2015 recruiting class.

Michigan Head Coach Jim Harbaugh has his work cut out for him as he inherited only six verbal commits, although two, QB Alex Malzone and WR Brian Cole, have already enrolled and are currently attending classes.  The remaining four, OT Grant Newsome, OL Jon Runyan, Jr, K Andrew David and S Tyree Kinnel have remained committed despite the coaching turmoil that led to the departure of Brady Hoke.  They are expected to sign their name on the dotted line come signing day.

So, who is Mr. Harbaugh and his staff targeting in the next few weeks?  We’re going to take a closer look each day at some of these prospects up until signing day beginning with Ryan Davis, who received his offer from Michigan today.  Let’s take a closer look.

Scouting Report

Davis has played quarterback in high school but is projected to play wide receiver at the collegiate level.  Where ever he ends up one thing is for certain, get the ball in his hands as much as possible.  Blessed with tremendous speed and quickness, Davis is almost impossible to bring down one-on-one in the open field.  His elusiveness is outstanding and he is a threat to go the distance every time he touches the ball.  He lacks size but should still excel at the collegiate level if utilized properly.  His highlight reel is a must see……..check it out for yourself right here……..

So now the question is, can Michigan get him.  It’s never easy to get a Florida kid to come up and visit Michigan in the middle of January, for the first time, and get him to commit.  Let’s be honest, weather is a factor.  Plus, he is wanted by just about every other major power five conference team in the country so the competition is tough.  We know Alabama and Miami (FL) coaches will be paying him a visit this week in addition to Michigan.  However, Florida State and Florida are considered the odds-on favorites to land the four star receiver.

Davis will be a difficult kid for Michigan to land as the in-state schools will be tough to overcome however the opportunity to play for Jim Harbaugh is enticing to any high school football player.  I’m not feeling very strongly that Michigan can pull him away from the south but if anyone could it’s the Wolverines.
