Reuben Jones has committed to Michigan!

Jim Harbaugh has landed his first commit as the University of Michigan’s Head Coach with the verbal commitment of Lakeland, FL Lake Gibson three-star Defensive End, Reuben Jones.

Jones de-committed from Nebraska earlier this week and was considered a Michigan lean after he received an offer from Harbaugh, D.J. Durkin and Greg Mattison.  At 6’3, 223lbs how they will utilize Jones remains to be seen but as someone who has evaluated his tape I can tell you he is an explosive athlete off the edge and possesses a tremendous burst to the quarterback. I imagine Jones will first be tried as an a stand-up edge rusher and this is a very high need for the Michigan defense.

This is also a major coup for Harbaugh in the state of Florida as he continues to try and build a pipeline from the south up north to Ann Arbor.  Harbaugh is making sure Michigan is a threat nationally and not just in the midwest.

The first commit is in the books and I have a sneaking suspicion Jones will not be the only commit this week.  More to come…..
